We actually have one, but only to work to support our boating addiction

Fashion be damned, we're on a mission (trip)

Our new boat is actually an old one--a 1986 Bayliner 4550 Pilothouse that for a decade or longer had lived two slips down from us at our marina, owned by a commercial airline pilot who rarely had time to spend on her.  One Saturday in July, 2008 he posted a "for sale" sign, and by the following Wednesday we had her under contract.

We loved the classic lines and spacious, well designed floor plan but we weren't feeling the love for the interior decor that hadn't been updated since the late 1980's. Anyone for some coppertone appliances? Faded and stained blue carpet? Grasscloth wallpaper? Anyone? Someone? No?  Let the renovations begin...

July 2008:  "Before Photos"
We take home the ugliest girl at the prom but she has potential and a nice personality
Aug 2008: Pulling the boat to check the bottom
Say, does this hoist make my boat look big?
Jan 2009:  New carpet and we lose the "monkey fur"
Blue carpet and the mysterious fuzzy, dusty, furry stuff on the walls get the boot
Feb 2009:  Getting into high gear
We get new shifters and "teak oil elbow"
March 2009:  The furniture gets its groove back
We say goodbye to the 1980's
