March, 2009:  The furniture gets its groove back

Other than the new carpet going in, this was the day we had looked forward to the most. Carol came by to watch the fun and our dock neighbors hung around to do a test run of the new digs.

The salon sofa was the most complicated piece since its made up of six pieces sized precisely to the dimensions of the corner it sits in. Morley and Jim figured out how all the pieces went together then gently slid it in place rammed it home with half a micro millimeter to spare. Jim nearly lost two fingers in the process.

What a difference!  The leather looks nearly white in these photos, but it is actually a soft shade of khaki that we chose to match the headliner fabric and new carpet.

The salon still isn't quite finished--Morley has to pry to sofa back out again to do some electrical work behind it and install the small countertop that runs between the back of the sofa and the hull.  That's another weekend project that will have to wait for another day.
